In consideration of the enrollment category, structure and levels of the scholarship in SISU and in accordance with Regulations on the Management of Chinese Government Scholarship, Notice of the Improvement of Chinese Government Scholarship Granting System and the Raise of Financial Assistance Issued by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education, the following regulations are specially formulated for the purpose of enhancing the efficient management of the scholarship students:
Article1: The Categories of Chinese Government Scholarship
Based on the categories of students, the scholarship should be accordingly divided into the scholarship for general scholars, undergraduates and master degree students.
Article2: Details of Chinese Government Scholarship
1) Chinese Government Scholarship includes full scholarship and partial scholarship;
2) Details of full scholarship
-Exempt from tuition fee and the fee for accommodation;
-The access to the comprehensive medical insurance for international students
in China;
-Monthly living allowance (CNY 2500 Yuan for undergraduates per month; CNY 3000 Yuan for general students and master degree students per month);
3) Partial scholarship includes one or some items of the full scholarship.
Article3. The Granting of Monthly Living Allowance
Scholarship students shall get their monthly living allowance from the date of registration. Those who register before 15th (15th included) of the registration month will get the living allowance of a full month, and those who register after 15th will get that of a half month. Scholarship of the graduates will be paid half month after their graduation date. Scholarship of those who suspend or quit their studies or go back to their own country after graduating will be stopped from the following month. Monthly living allowance will be paid during Chinese national holidays. Scholarship students who do not get the monthly living allowance during holidays can get reimbursed on return. Monthly living allowance of the scholarship students who do not register on time or stay away from university up to one month because of non-health reasons will be stopped.
Scholarship students are required to sign their names in their department counselor’s office to make a confirmation of the amount of the monthly living allowance. Otherwise, the granting of the allowance of the present month shall be postponed.
Article4: Costs of the laboratory experiment or internship required that beyond the university arrangements should be afforded by the student himself.
Article5: Scholarship students who have to suspend their education for reason of illness that is not allowed to stay in China by the Chinese law should return to their home country for further treatment and rest; the international travel expenses of returning should be self-afforded.
Article6: Scholarship students should receive treatment in school’s hospital if they suffer from disease during the study period. If necessary, they can also be transferred into the appointed hospital by the agency of school’s hospital. The costs of dental prosthetics, dental filling, tooth extraction, glasses buying, delivery, abortion, correction of physiological defect, nourishment and supplement purchasing, and others that are beyond the scope and criteria of public health services should be shouldered by the students themselves, and so do the costs of the treatment of the chronic diseases the students already had before coming to China. The hospitalization and others relevant costs caused by casualty accidents due to the violation of law and regulation, e.g. fighting and brawling, should be shouldered by the person concerned.
Article7: Scholarship students who have to suspend their education for reason of illness should return to their home country for further treatment and rest; the international travel expenses of returning and coming back should be shouldered by the students themselves; the scholarship status will be reserved for at most one year; the monthly living allowance will be stopped during the suspension of education; the scholarship of the students who suspend their education for reasons other than illness will be terminated.
Article8: The Change of Specialties, Institutions or the Duration of Study
Students are not permitted, in principle, to change their specialties, institutions, or the duration of study specified in the Admission Notice after registration. If there do exist any special circumstance that the specialties, institution or the duration of study has to be changed, an application should be submitted to International Students’ Department and then presented to China Scholarship Council for its approval. The students who change their specialties, institution or duration of study by themselves without permission shall be disqualified the access to scholarship.
Article9: The Culture Events of Scholarship Students
To enrich the extracurricular activities of scholarship students, strengthen their understanding of China and improve their interest in Chinese, recreational and sports activities, visits and student parties will be regularly held, the cost of which shall be paid from the scholarship tuition.
Article10: The Annual Review of Chinese Government Scholarship
The students whose duration of study is above one year shall be exercised with an annual comprehensive review. The students who can’t pass the review shall be deprived of scholarship.
Article 11: Chinese Scholarship Council
International Students’ Department administrates the recruitment of international students and the routine management of the Chinese Government Scholarship scheme.
