Introduction
to International Students¡¯ Department
Established in 1983, the International Students¡¯ Department
of Sichuan International Studies University is the only
department of the university responsible for enrollment,
teaching and management of international students. Over the
past 20 years, the department has trained students from more
than 40 countries, including the United States, Japan,
Korea, Singapore, Canada, Peru, Britain, France, Germany,
Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Turkey,
Belgium, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Viet Nam, and
Cambodia.
Equipped with modern teaching facilities, the department has
a strong teaching faculty. Among the
12 teachers,
6 are professors or associate professors.
Many
teachers have had
the experience of teaching Chinese at foreign universities
under the program administered by the Ministry of Education
of China. The teachers in the department are also proficient
in English, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish and
Korean. Their dedication and professionalism are testified
by the achievements of the
international students. Many of the students have passed
HSK
test
Band Six or Band Eight after one or two years¡¯
training. Some have come back to work in China, some working
as department administrators.
At present, the department offers a four-year undergraduate
program leading to Bachelor¡¯s Degree in Chinese. In
addition, it offers both short-term and long-term training
programs to international students.
The department also offers a variety of
extracurricular
programs, including courses on Chinese calligraphy, Chinese
Painting, Martial Arts, Taiji, and other subjects
related to Chinese culture and society. It also arranges for
students to visit places of interest around the city and the region. |
